In this episode of Keeping Tempo we take a look at the Ideal Harmonie Sublime, made circa the 1890s. The Ideal Harmonie Sublime is a late 19th century music box made by the Mermode Freres, or Mermode Brothers, in Switzerland. The cabinetry and music mechanisms were both created by the Mermode Brothers and is a wonderful example of craftsmanship and artistry. It operates on a metal cylinder that plays three different melodies and is interchangeable.
